Signed print or limited edition: how to choose
Have you found an image that moves you? Choosing between a signed print and a limited edition is mainly about the edition, size and presentation you would like in your home.
Signed art editions: choose a size and presentation
Signed prints let you discover Lalou’s work on fine art paper. Depending on the work, you can choose a size and an unframed or framed presentation. A3 and A2 are among the available sizes, but they do not cover every format in the catalogue.
Lalou’s handwritten signature and the KLE embossed mark accompany the paper prints described in our Print quality, sizes and framing guide. A signature alone does not make an edition “limited”: check the wording and numbering stated on the product page.
Limited editions: a numbered edition
A limited edition has a defined edition size and numbering. The total number, sizes and finish are specified for each work: do not assume one edition has the same characteristics as another.
All limited editions are presented in float frames. Traditional glazed frames are reserved for signed prints. Check the size and overall dimensions on the product page.
Each limited edition is signed and numbered by hand on the back by Lalou Kraffe. It comes with a certificate, also signed, stating its numbering and the title of the work.
Six things to compare before choosing
- The edition: a signed print or a numbered limited edition? What edition size is stated for your chosen work?
- What you receive: a print on its own, a framed print, a panel in a float frame or a set of several panels?
- The dimensions: print size, overall framed dimensions and the wall space required. For a diptych or triptych, check each panel’s dimensions and the spacing you would like between them.
- The finish: the actual support, paper, margin, frame colour and mounting offered.
- The price: compare your selected variants, not just the “from” price. For a set, the product page should state whether the price covers the whole set or one panel.
- Preparation: we aim for 1 to 3 days whenever possible; extra time may be needed to prepare, sign and number prints, depending on our availability. Transit time comes afterwards.
Precious materials in the original and their reproduction
When an original painting includes gold, copper or silver leaf, a print may reproduce those tones within the image. This does not mean the print itself has metal leaf applied to it: refer to its product page for the actual details.
How would you like the work to feel in your space?
For a first acquisition, start with the image, your space and the presentation you enjoy. A numbered edition offers a print produced in a limited quantity; it is not a promise of future financial value.
Send us your wall dimensions and tell us which works you like. We will help you compare sizes and presentations, without asking you to choose solely on the basis of an interior styling photograph.
