Water winds between the stones before joining a bluish expanse behind the trees. Copper-coloured foliage fills the upper part of the composition; further away, a small red forest brings the bank to life.
The pale sky leaves room for the trunks and the landscape’s curves to breathe. The rocks in the foreground give the eye a point of reference before inviting it to follow the movement of the water.
In the original painting, the trees’ leaves are made with copper leaf. Their orange nuances are reproduced here in the print on art paper.
