With her hands drawn up near her face, a woman nestles into a large purple collar. Her red hair and light eyes stand out against a pink background crossed by a branch with small, dark, round leaves.

A few golden touches appear in the setting and on the clothing. The title invites us to listen to the birds; the image brings us closer to this gaze and this gentle gesture, as at the end of a day.

The golden touches punctuating the portrait come from gold leaf applied to the original painting. They are reproduced in print between the purple collar and the dark branches.
