I open one eye and, an unexpected spectator, delight in this gentle, luminous conversation between two moons... Oh, how content I am...
A red-haired woman lies with her back to us on top of a tall pile of cushions. Her head rests on pink fabric; behind her pale body, an opening reveals trees with black trunks.
Reds, browns and greys are stacked in stripes, curves and patterns. This variation on The Princess and the Pea makes the fabric a landscape in its own right, one that can be explored from bottom to top.
The golden tones of the background reproduce the gold leaf in the original. Here, the art paper carries its printed reproduction around the opening onto the trees.
