Red posts fill the foreground in front of pale blue water. Beyond them, a small red tree is reflected near a bank punctuated by yellow circles; the large branches above carry copper-coloured leaves.
This first landscape in the triptych brings the barrier, bank and open expanse of water into dialogue. The patterns of the ground extend the curves of the vegetation within a palette of blues and muted reds.
The leaves above reproduce applications of copper leaf on the original panel. Their orange tones are printed in this edition above the water and red trees.
