A red-haired woman closes her eyes, her cheek resting on one hand, while the other holds a red cup. The botanical motifs on her dark clothing blend into the green background behind her.
On the left, a bright window-shaped opening reveals small grey leaves. The elbow resting on the table, the softness of her face and the contrast of the cup give this moment of repose an intimate presence.
In the original artwork, gold leaf highlights the window-shaped opening behind the figure. The print reproduces its nuances; the small grey leaves in the light panel are painted.
