"A few fireflies, still dancing, greet my awakening..."

A woman turns her face over her shoulder, her eyes cast down. Her pale back stands out against dark patterned fabric; her hair blends with slender branches.

Golden drops descend through the blue-grey background, among small white dots. The movement of the shoulder, the softness of the hair and the design of the twigs give this portrait a quiet gentleness.

On the original painting, the drops are applied in gold leaf. The print reproduces their colours among the branches and the light dots of the background.
