A hat with long pale sections hanging down on either side frames a face turned towards us. A large plum-coloured fabric wraps around the shoulders; behind the red hair, fine trees rise towards a copper-toned celestial body.
The folds of the clothing fill the lower part of the portrait and echo the browns and green-greys of the setting. The figure seems well sheltered, while the gaze remains open to the world around her.
The celestial body in the original painting is made with copper leaf. This print reproduces its orange shades in the upper right-hand corner above the hat and trees.
